Carol Ellis
Contemporary Artist - flowers, animals, landscapes, seascapes and all genre of fine art in oils and acrylics
Biography
Painting for about six years, initially inspired by extremely artistic fellow family members and without any formal art qualifications, Carol is totally self taught developing styles and techniques of her own. As she has always worked full time, the idea of formal training has never appealed. Carol feels art should be expressed freely and does not always need a structured approach of when and how. Initially, I learning to paint in acrylics, but now water mixable oils are more frequently used. In fact, she enjoy using both mediums in the same painting.
Favourite topics include local seascapes such as 'Evening at Westcliff', 'Chalkwell', and 'Thames Fishing' plus inspiration taken from holiday photographs of favourite places. The traditional style of her land and sea paintings aim to capture emotions from dramatic vibrant and warm, to calm and tranquil. More recently, Carol has moved from traditional to contemporary styles to develop her skills in other areas - hence the interest in the close up paintings of flowers and fruit still-life. More recently she has started to develop skills with figurative work.
