Biography
Douglas studied art at A' level standard, but aside from that is self taught with a natural talent for producing various forms of painting and sculpture. Until recently, he owned his own art gallery in Moulsham Street, Chelmsford, Essex.
Douglas has been awarded membership to the Guild of Essex Craftsman and has promoted his work through exhibitions and some selected retailers including the affordable studio at Barleylands Craft Village near Billericay, Essex. He also has a working studio/gallery at Blake House Craft Centre near Rayne, Braintree, Essex (well sign posted on the new A120).
Douglas' work is very diverse, incorporating mirrors and glass along with elements of the Art Nouveau / Art Deco period to many of his pieces and adding his own modern / contemporary style whilst experimenting, particularly with added texture, resulting in some new and unique results.
